Poor old Arthas. His days as cock o' the north in Blizzard's World of Warcraft are most definitely numbered, and while a good percentage of regular players might have already spanked The Lich King around a bit, or at least run away from him in person, he's already yesterday's news. Blizzard's third and most promising World of Warcraft expansion -- Cataclysm -- has been the topic of conversation... more. -

Hellboy, a fun film about a demon who defends humanity, hit theaters in 2004. Its equally fun sequel, Hellboy 2: The Golden Army, came out in 2008. If this were a math puzzle, we'd logically deduce that Hellboy 3 should be released in ... four plus eight equals ... 2012. But ... no. Writer/director Guillermo del Toro explains why. Del Toro recently told MTV News that the only thing standing... more. -
How the Netflix Deal Will Forever Change Distribution

There are several takeaways from Netflix’s announcement that it will have exclusive streaming rights to movies from Epix, the joint venture between MGM, Lionsgate, and Paramount. While the deal has generated a lot of press, however, I find the impact on us regular viewers and indie filmmakers is more significant than the financial implications for the entities involved. We’ve known f... more. -

If this 3D thing is going to stick around, then we're bound to get bombarded with concerns about safety. Plenty of companies have warning labels on their 3D gear, but it's more of a "just in case" than an actual warning. Let's get it out of the way right now. According to Dr. Mark Borchert, an L.A. based ophthalmologist that was named as one of the best doctor's in Southern California ... more. -

William Gibson's Neuromancer—winner of the Hugo, Nebula and Philip K. Dick Awards—is finally heading for the big screen. And who knows? Maybe thanks to Splice's Vincenzo Natali, it could become a classic. But what does Gibson think about a couple of other classic sci-fi films? The author just let us know over on his Twitter feed. While comparing the Tron vision of cyberspace with his... more. -

Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich confirmed that Urban was cast as Dredd yesterday evening during BFI's Movie-Con III Q&A, currently taking place in London. And we think that it's always nice to hear these things from people other than the actors. "There's been a change in comic-book movies; they were treated unseriously and now they're treated seriously," said Macdonald. "We've cast a... more. -
‘The Expendables’ Reminds Us Why Matt Damon Sucks

There’s much to like about “The Expendables,” especially the simple straight-forward plot, all the B-movie mayhem you could possibly ask for, and two unapologetic hours of masculinity – which may be two hours more than we’ve seen in all of the last decade put together. These boys smoke cigars, drink beer while piloting airplanes, and return us to those glorious pre-Oprah days ... more.
